The agreement
Munro Planner and munroplanner.com are operated by Simon Grogan, an independent UK developer ("we", "us"). By using the app or the website you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the app.
Mountain safety — read this bit. Munro Planner is a planning aid, not a safety device. Forecast scores, views scores, terrain-adjusted wind, midge and spate estimates, mobile coverage indications, route descriptions and timings are all estimates built from forecast and terrain data. Mountain weather changes fast and forecasts are sometimes wrong.
You are responsible for your own safety: your route choice, your equipment, your navigation skills, your party and your decision to turn back. Always check a full mountain forecast (such as MWIS or the Met Office) and, in winter, the SAIS avalanche forecast before you go. Carry a map and compass and know how to use them — phones fail, batteries die, and signal disappears. Never rely on this app as your only means of navigation.
Using the app
We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use Munro Planner on your own devices. You may not copy, resell, scrape, bulk-extract or redistribute the app's data or content, interfere with the service, or attempt to reverse engineer the app except where the law allows it.
Accounts
An account is optional and exists to sync your logbook between devices. Keep your password to yourself, give us accurate details, and let us know if you think someone else has access to your account. You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (More → Account). We may suspend accounts that abuse the service.
Subscriptions
- Some features require a paid subscription. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.
- Subscriptions are purchased through, and managed by, the Apple App Store or Google Play. They renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- To cancel or manage a subscription, use your App Store or Google Play account settings — deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. Your statutory rights are unaffected.
- The free tier is genuinely useful and stays free.
Gift purchases
Annual gift purchases made on this website provide 12 months of supporter access, redeemed with a code in the app or on the site. Gift codes have no cash value, can't be exchanged for money, and can be redeemed once. If a gift code hasn't been redeemed, contact us and we'll do our best to help. Once redeemed, the subscription period runs from the date of redemption.
Content and data
- Mapping is © Crown copyright and database rights, Ordnance Survey, used under licence. OS mapping is for use within the app and may not be extracted or reused.
- Forecast scores and written summaries are generated by us from weather model data and are provided "as is".
- Wildlife sightings come from public biological records and show what has been reported nearby — not a promise of what you'll see.
- Your logbook is yours. We claim no ownership of what you record, and you can export or delete it.
Availability and changes
We work hard to keep the service running, but it's provided without a guarantee of uninterrupted availability. Forecast data depends on third-party sources. We may improve, change or withdraw features over time; if a change materially affects a paid feature during your subscription, we'll aim to put it right or you can seek a refund from Apple or Google.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that can't be excluded under UK law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or your statutory consumer rights. Subject to that, we are not liable for losses arising from your use of, or reliance on, forecasts, scores, estimates, routes or other information in the app or on the website — hillwalking and mountaineering carry inherent risks that you accept when you head for the hills. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the Scottish courts. If you live elsewhere in the UK you can also bring proceedings in your home nation's courts.
Changes to these terms
If we make meaningful changes we'll update this page and the date at the top. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
